Two Movers and Shakers in the House

James is crawling! He's been teasing us for weeks by moving one leg forward and then the other, and then the first leg again and then sitting up or collapsing onto his belly. Any time we made eye contact with him on the floor, he'd start crying for us to pick him up already. It's been agonizing waiting for him to become mobile when I've known for weeks that he's physically capable and ready. Well tonight, while Josh was distracted on my new phone and I was watching Netflix on the computer, James took it upon himself to inch his deliberate way to the bag of pretzels Scarlet left on the living room floor.

When Josh and I noticed his laborious advancement, we moved the pretzels farther from him and he continued his dogged pace toward them. My heart felt so light and overjoyed at this milestone. Then we picked up the pretzel bag completely (he's way too toothless to gum on those things) and left him on the floor. Five minutes later I looked up and noticed he was out of the room completely. He had worked his way down our tiny hall toward the bathroom, where Scarlet was. He went in search of his sister and found her! I was so proud of him!

Now, of course, everything will change forever. I'm surrounded by mobile children and I'll never be the same again.
